My name is Andy Gonzalez. I'm 16 and a Junior in High School. Ever since I was a little kid, I've enjoyed making YouTube videos even when I didn't post them. But in 2015 my older brother helped me make a YouTube channel that was named AndyProductions. As I got older, I continued making videos, but it started to become pictures, theater, directing, editing and all types of art. I've always loved being creative. In elementary school, I started an origami club and would always use the school office's iPad to make iMovie movie trailers with my friends. And in middle school, I wanted to create a new music streaming service called Project Cloud. Although it was only my friends and cousins using the website, it was special being able to execute my ideas. In sixth grade, I watched Jonah Hill's film mid90s. Apart from my older brother already skateboarding a while back, this film really inspired me in a lot of different ways. The film's style and everything to do with skateboarding clothes, people, lifestyle made me so excited and opened up a whole new creative genre for me. Magazines like Big Brother and Thrasher changed the way I viewed graphic design and clothing. I liked the simplicity and niche feeling it gave off when looking at a grainy photo of a pair of shoes or eyes. I would say it takes a certain type of person to understand and appreciate a certain type of art style, like skateboarding and mid90s. The next day, after watching the film, I got my older brother's old skateboard and started practicing. Being young in school, it was always cool and a privilege to be friends with the older kids. I was a sixth grader and I had a lot of older friends that also skated. Being in a circle with my cousin, those friends and all the middle school experiences was such a special feeling every day going to school. I lived a block away from my old middle school and me and my cousin would skate to my house after school and skate on the ramp my dad made for me. Listening to music and skating back home with a strawberry ice cream cone in my hand with my cousin were irreplaceable memories. Coming the middle of the year, covid 19 gave us 2 weeks of no school, then, before we knew it, I spent the rest of 6th grade and the rest of 7th home every day on zoom. At that time, I had just finished a show, being an actor for the show Miracle on 34th Street. I loved performing, but I always knew I liked the process and directing a lot more. Came quarantine and I started taking pictures a lot more seriously. I started on my iPod, and after convincing my dad and showing him I was serious about this, he bought me my first camera. Canon PowerShot SX530-HS. I shot so many photos everywhere I went but still have not developed a picture art style. With my 7th grade year coming to an end so was covid, this summer I was able to get out a lot more. It came 8th grade and I felt everything took a positive turn. I restarted my YouTube channel, won photography awards, started a hat company using my current logo, went on the local radio & started actually realizing I love the media. I love drawing, I love pictures, I love videos, I love directing, and I just loved creating. My only full middle school year was a great one and I don't regret anything. Comes High School. I attended cross-country, wrestling, baseball, football & track. After trying almost everything, I realized I loved wrestling and doing track. Apart from being a student athlete, high school was great. I made lots of great genuine friends and people that support me and my dreams. Without getting very specific, high school has been so great. I have recorded the last three years on gopro. I've done work for charity events, weddings, quinces, graduations, sports, and made over 20 short films, made a photography book, consistently filmed episodes for our school news channel, am part of student-led advisory in my school district, and worked with over 600 middle schoolers teaching the basics of adobe, and just a lot of specific photo/video gigs. I hope to continue going upwards with something to do with my passion for creating and the media. I am inspired by my favorite writer/director, Harmony Korine. I want to work with Cole Bennett, the NBA, NFL, Netflix, all my idols and to make an original movie that will be in the movie theater. I have big dreams, big passion and all with HIS will be done.
